MWWP Becomes MWP

MWWP now becomes MWP

Whitewater Ontario is pleased to announce that the well-known hot spot of paddling "Minden Wild Water Preserve" has officially revised its name to the Minden Whitewater Preserve.

Since the inception of the preserve over 40 years ago, the use of the Gull River has developed from strictly canoe/kayak training to a more inclusive venue with different uses including river running, play boating, park'n play, angling, photography, body surfing, trail cycling, and trail hiking, birthday parties, engagements, and even weddings.

With the support of the founder, Roger Parsons, and the Township of Minden Hills,  WO is welcoming this name change to the "Minden Whitewater Preserve".

More changes coming to the Preserve and status of Fix-The-Gull River improvements will be highlighted at:

  • REEL Paddling Film Festival @ Haliburton on Friday June 9, 2017.

2016 MWWP Work Weekend Thank You

WO would like to thank the team of paddlers who helped out at the Minden

Whitewater Preserve this past weekend.

Peter Farr, Steve Farr, Eric, Milton, Rob, Marc Joanis, Diane, and daughter

Rachel, Dave Humphrys. Mike Yee, Sal, and kids Peri and Kieran.

Together they accomplished a lot:

               1- spread woodchips on playground.

2 - dropped about 25 trees in the campground to remove hazard trees, increase

grass growth and prep campfire wood.

3 - laid gravel on RL takeout to cover tree roots on shoreline paths

4 - installed two roofs and finished the new storage

... and Diane prepared two great meals.

This sets things up for a backhoe to pull stumps, bring in a wood splitter, and

move equipment into the new Trillium storage building.
